For our latest unit we have been working on doing logo adaptations from our original logo. The two adaptations stemming from the original was one one-color sticker, and one two-color (+) sticker.
For the one-color sticker adaptation, we had to adapt our logo design into a one-color sticker, being a solid color with only one solid shape. Since all of the parts of my logo were separated and floating, I decided to take the vine and use it to connect the different parts of the logo together, like this. I actually used a sticker color similar to the ferret color in the original logo, being a yellow-orange.
As for my tw0-color (+), or multi color sticker, I took the original logo design and created an outline/border by using the offset-path, rasterize and image-trace tools.
As for reference towards the original, here is the original logo design.
My favorite of the two adaptations when it came to creating it was the one-color sticker, since I could trace over the original logo with the pen tool, and experiment combining things to create everything together. However, I also think the two color (+), or multi color sticker, came out nicely as well.
The main problems I came up with in the one-color sticker were turning the shapes into a single object, but I solved this by using the fine to go through all the shapes. After that I also had to combine the flowers, so I (to a certain degree) used the negative space around the flower petals instead. At the end I discovered I had a bunch of endpoints randomly scattered that I could not delete, which took me 2/5 of the total time, working to delete them.
As for the two-color (+), or multi color sticker, I only experienced slight problems in turning the outline/border into a solid shape, and making the ferret head appear separated. I fixed the second issue by adding a black stroke solely around the ferret head, and as for the first just worked it through.
Overall, my favorite was the one-color sticker.
